Evan Jacobs

(Executive Producer/Effects Supervisor)

Jacobs began his professional career as a Production Assistant at Fantasy II film effects, learning his craft from the ground up. After leaving Fantasy II, Jacobs joined leading effects house, Boss Film Studios working on such projects as "Outbreak", "Drop Zone", "The Hunt For Red October", and commercials for Dodge, DHL, Unocal 76 and Chevrolet.

Working in a freelance capacity, Jacobs served as model shop supervisor on the feature film "Ed Wood" and several commercials.

Evan has spoken at industry conferences such as Post/LA and was instructor for the Entertainment Studies Extension Program at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for three years. He is an active member of the Visual Effects Society.

Jacobs oversaw all of VCU's projects as Executive Producer and also served as Effects Supervisor. Evan later worked as the 3D Department Manager at Digital Domain and then returned to visual effects supervision working on Hollywoodland, 16 Blocks and Silent Hill.

"Off the Wall" is a short film produced and directed by Evan Jacobs. Doug Miller was the cinematographer and it was produced at VCU.

Jacobs was nominated for an Emmy award for "From The Earth To The Moon" in the visual effects catagory.

Jon Warren

(Head of Physical Production)

Jon Warren comes from a long line of visual effects artists. Both his grandfather, Gene Warren, Sr., his uncle, Gene Warren, Jr.,have been honored with Academy Awards for their visual effects work. So it made sense when Jon chose to explore the world of visual effects.

Jon Warren has worked his way up through the trenches of visual effects production. After working at his uncle's effects facility, Fantasy II Film Effects, Warren joined Boss Film Studios. Working his way up the ranks, Jon began served as a model maker on such projects as "The Hunt For Red October", "Cliffhanger", "Alien3", "Batman Returns" and commercials for Budweiser, United, and Samsonite. He then acted as Mechanical Effects Supervisor for "Outbreak", "Drop Zone", and a series of Dodge commercials. Jon returned to Fantasy II Film Effects several times in his freelance career, contributing to such projects as "The Abyss", and "Strange Days". Jon also helped start up Digital Domain's model shop on "True Lies".

Warren is an active member of the Visual Effects Society.

Jon applied his wealth of knowledge and commitment to quality to all of VCU's projects as Head of Physical Production.

Douglas Miller

(Director of Photography/Digital Effects Supervisor)

Douglas Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film Production from Loyola Marymount University.

He began his effects career at Boss Film Studios, Miller working as a model maker on such projects as "Cliffhanger", "Alien3", "Batman Returns" and commercials for Budweiser, United, and Samsonite.

He then left Boss to explore the freelance market, working at Digital Domain on "True Lies" and "Apollo 13". He then returned to Boss as a key player on the feature film "Species".

In 1993, Doug Miller recognized the growing need for talented digital effects artists. He began applying his extensive knowledge of real world effects and photography to the digital tools. He has become a highly skilled, self-taught computer modeling, animation and compositing artist.

Miller served as both VCU's resident Cinematographer and as Digital Effects Supervisor.

Miller is an active member of the Visual Effects Society.
