"For Titanic, VCU created deck detail for the 44-foot model ship, including lifeboats, cranes, portholes and ventilators. 'Jim [Cameron] wanted a museum,' says Jacobs. 'We happily obliged, going so far as to design interiors for the lifeboats.'"
The article describes how smaller effects houses supported Digital Domain on James Cameron's Titanic (1997), including Vision Crew Unlimited. It quotes Evan Jacobs, who co-founded VCU in late 1994 with Jon Warren and Doug Miller, on the company's relationship with Digital Domain and its motion-control, miniature, and model work on projects such as Dante's Peak and The Fifth Element. It also notes VCU's then-current sequences work for New Line Cinema's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
